Life Bucket by Bill Beech
| The right of the picture is framed in two pairs of trees. It represents the world of women, the water carriers, who weave the material body and perpetrate the generations by the umbilical cord. From the River of Tharmas ascends the fallen soul, her wild hair now neatly coiffed, carrying a scaly bucket*, in which 'Crazy Jane' sees the image of her unborn child.
The prints are a development of the story board intended for the opening (animated) scenes of the film, based on The Arlington Court painting by William Blake, 'The Sea of Time and Space'.
This image is from a sequence of prints made with Jane Whitaker as part of the process of realising the script for a new film: 'And Fair, Fierce Women'.
